Subject:charm, he said, is essential to misogyny.
Time:5:39 pm.
In 1724 or thereabouts, one of those years when nothing else of note happened, the tradition of Early Closing Day was canonised in law across the nation. People who work in shops need to go to the market at least once a week! The government said. So let's legislate it! They added, and rubbed their thick little Whig fingers together in glee. It is no longer 1724, markets have been super-fied, and yet Early Closing Day still exists. This is obviously an anachronism. Especially if it means I can't get to the post office on the One Day When I Am Home Early Enough, Bitches.

Harpy hug Squid, wherever Squid be.

...and now, if you don't mind, I will stare at Charmian's new layout for a while. Ohh, Jezebel... although, um, he's /very much/ Rociel, in scary stylee.

Amusing to look through the two volumes of the fourth book of the earl cain stuff and just think, oh, Yuki-sensei, I like your later art style so much better. And for god's sake give Merryweather a skirt that /fits/. This was the victorian era, after all, and a glimpse of stocking was thought upon as something shocking. But now, heaven knows, anything... uh, sorry. *cough*

Yuki-sensei has such better research now, as well as a, uh, /better/ art-style. Can't say more than 'better': no artgr0k whatsoever.

I'm not overtly enamoured by early YnM manga's style, either, to tell you the truth: it's that shoulder-to-head ratio that makes me... want to break things. /Now/ we know why i'm not an avid clamp_fangirlie. ;)

Lah!

You know, people can bitch about Blair all they like, but labour got in in /1997/. And, you know, it takes more than 5 years to deal with the consequences of pretty substantial tory neglect, especially when you're a perenially insecure-feeling party striving to keep public opinion On Your Side and think that keeping taxes low is the way to do this. Now drop the thatcherite policies slowly, tony, and walk away from them. You're better than that. And /look/ what they've done to our Health Service, for fuck's sake.

...that was random. Um.

Also, I find it interesting that there's some blog conflicts I'm happy with, and some i'm not: I like conflicts where i have an opinion of some kind, and dislike those where I don't really... uh... give a shit. Because then I feel like I /should/ grab an opinion from somewhere and peddle! it! to! the! world!. Which is entirely unhealthy.

I also *really* *really* *really* *really* like sleep. Sleep is good, sleep is nice, sleep is my friend. I should get more of it.

And I hate my history dissertation, and feel like chucking it away and writing about, oh, something else which Actually Has Sources I Can Find And Read instead. Argh. Argh argh argh.
