In our garden: a space heater, seventies and brown, with an inch of snow across the top. It's a great image. The snow of Wednesday, which stuck - kids on the estates by the main road chucking snow at the buses as they passed, the open-court in college actually somewhere near pretty for once - has settled at about three centimetres, packed and slippery. The council haven't seen fit to grit our road, in a move of stunning ineptitude - it's a blind turn at the end, and there's generally a crash every other month, joyriders ramming the cars parked at the curve of the street and running. The entire day has been punctuated with the thud and crunch of bumpers and metal: the boot of the red Fiat that's been parked there all day is crumpled and dinted, and there's a new blue one skidded all the way up onto the pavement and into the wall at the other end. You expect Londoners to know how to drive in this weather? :p The Von Bondies are, actually, really good. And I really wish I'd copied the Libertines album before it floated off to Cambridge - ahh, Carl'n'Pete, like RPS only completely not. My HMV-trawl the other day has left me poor but secure in the knowledge that I can now inflict all the greatest Spike Jones And His City Slickers tracks on the world at large, because now I've got them on CD (as part of a five-cds-for-a-tenner thing, alongside Gene Kelly and Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra and, uh, Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas). It's time to revisit my embarrassing thing for comedy jazz with decidedly dubious lyrics and incredibly cheap jokes ("When der Führer say 'we ist der master-race', we heil - HEIL! - heil - HEIL! - right in der Führer's face..." Tom Riddle soundtrack, anyone? *^_^*) nocturne_alley has, for the past few months, been top of the Great Harpy 'hp rpg like unto the good crack' Stakes, purely by dint of its Terry Boot. Realism, j0: I went to school with his exact double. And fancied the pants off her for about a year, but that's quite beside the point. Alas, fickle me: I think imperius may just have overtaken it. <333333!
