I miss Berlin already.

Went to see Infernal Affairs II and III at the Berlinale, ( the only films I really wanted to see. (spoilers) ) Didn't catch any of the Q&As with Andy Lau and Alan Mak, as they'd flown back to HK. Curses.

Wandered Berlin a bit, but not enough time - I need to go back and have a few weeks of the place. They've got good coffee now, too, Segafredo stands in the shopping centres. No longer any reason not to emigrate, right? ^.^

Dropped in on the brother in Paris, my mother coming over from the UK to join us, and ate huge amounts of horribly rich food: he's become horribly skinny, ribs fully visible, which on the one hand is bad but on the other hand meant I could buy him the coolest skinnyfit jumper ever (plus supercute trainers for myself, brown/tan Golas). Kept getting irritated by the constant 'o Paris is so lovely and wonderful', though. I realise I'm in a minority here, but I just don't get the fascination: it's beautiful, certainly, and there are a lot of great things in it, but, no. Especially when flanked by my mother's insistence that Everything Is like It Was When She Best Remembers It and my brother's We Here In Paris Have The Ichiban [x] O Yes We Do. He's positively Russian with it - here in Paris we have the biggest city if you count the satellite towns! here in my Arrondisement we have the best baguettes in all the world official! here in Paris we have the most meanminded dogs in the universe, watch your feet! (and thinking of Russians, someone with the strongest accent asked me for directions in Berlin: 'wo ist derr Aleksandrplotz?' Aw.)

The Mountain Goats are coming to London soon, and I've got my ticket for Four Tet/Fennesz/multifarious others. Life is pretty decent.
